Artist Statement

I create art because I must.* It’s the core of who I am. I make art with emotion, integrity, intensity and hope. My art is challenging. As art should be.

My art involves experimenting with paint to create abstract emotive works. When painting, I challenge myself to complete a work in one sitting. I almost always do not have a concrete idea for a piece before putting brush and paint to canvas. It starts with an emotion, which then leads to a specific color palette. This method can sometimes lead to what at first can be interpreted as a mistake in the process. But this is always merely a change of direction, producing unexpected beauty.
