Artist Statement

My art is something that I have always had inside of me waiting to express itself. My retirement has allowed me to pursue the art that I love to do; it isn't work to me.

Summarized Biography

Gilda is self-educated in art and crafting. Her professional jewelry making began only nine years ago while she served on the Board of the Dover Art League. Since then, she has won prizes and recognition for several of her pieces. In working with natural materials and gemstones, she appreciates the beauty and natural variation in each piece. Each work carries its own character in that the stones are like no others. Her designs are original and unique within her line. Gilda especially strives to make her pieces affordable. She teaches classes and has lately been exploring with new materials such as paper, leather and clay. In addition to jewelry making, she has an interest in greeting card making, sewingtextiles, especially designing, and painting, for which she has also won prizes for wearable art and acrylics
