Artist Statement

My initial involvement in photography was associated with my work as a biologist and included transmission and scanning electron microscopy, macro- photography and photomicroscopy. I also was involved in endangered species recovery, documenting species distributions in caves. Since retiring in 2014, my wife and I have concentrated on travel and nature photography. We have enjoyed the opportunity to visit regions as diverse as Antarctica, Mongolia, Alaska, Egypt, Tanzania, the Galapagos, Southeast Asia, Russia, Western Europe and Latin America—including Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. Our current objective is to celebrate the cultural and natural diversities that make our planet a truly rewarding realm for exploration. We endeavor to communicate and share our experiences through photography.
