Artist Sarah Yeoman, a resident of the Brandywine Valley for over 25 years, has watercolor flowing in her veins. A private person, she lets her artwork be her voice and vision. "Painting for me is the search for spirit and the attempt to create a place for it to dwell," says Yeoman from her Ashland, DE studio Crow Hollow. "I want to convey the immediacy and undeniable presence of the artist in process." Her paintings are raw talent rarely seen in a time of copycat styles and overworked themes, simply put - refreshing.
Yeoman's watercolors are a wonderful blend of natural instinct, solid composition and juicy layers of color. She invites the viewer into her world with washes of pigment and soft forms that dance and play across the surface of the paper, creating images that are completed in detail by the individual's mind. More recently, Yeoman has begun painting more with pastels and oils. The muse flows easily and her distinctive images appear regardless of the medium used.
Born in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and summering in the Adirondack Mountains in New York, Yeoman's creative nature was fueled through music and the visual arts. Following her intuition, she pursued classes at Kutztown University, Ithace College and Penland Craft School, where her studies included metalsmithing, sculpture, music and painting.
Sarah Yeoman exhibits and sells her original painting close to home at Hardcastle Gallery in Centreville, Delaware and every summer at Abanakee Studio in Indian Lake, New York. She teaches watercolor from both her studio in Ashland as well as upstate New York and is available to paint private commissions as her schedule allows.
