Pat Staby is a self taught, professional fiber artist living in Lewes, Delaware. She attended Otterbein College as an English major, moving to Delaware in 1965. In 1976 she started a cottage industry, renting the upstairs of a drapery companyand employing a dozen women who worked in their own homes. She produced high-end appliquéd waterfowl pillows and quilts ad sold through catalogues and stores throughout the United States and Canada. At present, Pat creates one-of-a-kind designs in her studio and sells her work through galleries and juried craft shows. Her work, both pillows and wall hangings, are in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Australia. She and her husband, artists and ship-model builder Steve Rogers, have their own gallery showcasing their work.
Pat has won numerous first-place awards at the Rehoboth Art League members craft show. She has participated in group shows at the Peninsula Gallery (Lewes), the University of Delaware, the Ocean city Art League and this summer had a joint show with her husband at the Homestead Gallery at the Rehoboth Art League. She has served as a board member of the Sussex County Art Council and is presently a member of the exhibition committee which involves choosing artists for exhibitions. As a member of the artists Exchange she participates in group shows and critiques.
