Art to me is usually driven. Regardless of subject matter, spacial elements, shape relation and contrast, textured variations, color and line- all excite my interest.
Until the eighties, my interest was painting and dance! (I taught dance at the University of Delaware and subsequently was on the Artist in the Schools Registry for several years.) These are still a vital activity but I have also been developing an emphasis on ceramics.
My studio in Arden is a mini gallery filled with watercolors and examples of pottery. My open studio at Christmas reflects the breadth of my work. I have a Master's degree in painting (University of Delaware 1976, BFA University of Illinois 1952) and a Master's in Dance Education from the Laban School for Movement and Dance in London, England. (1987)
Although I have a potting wheel and kiln located at my home, I depend on the facilities and camaraderie of the Absalom Jone Art Studio of New Castle County. Ray Lewis and Mitch Lyons are inspirations to me in the art of ceramics.
