FabricScapes was launched in 2010 as an attempt to join together a collection of fabric and a love of art. Coordinating fabrics are sewn together to create land, sea, night, and snowscapes. Each piece is an original work of art, mounted on wooden stretcher bars, Scotch Guard protected, and ready to hang. Most designs are the result of the artist's imagination, and some replicate actual scenes. Custom pieces are available..
About the Artist
After earning a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut, the artist, Janice Itzel, worked in the business for several years. First in the Art Department of a childrens' clothing manufacturer in NYC, then as a gallery manager, and as a custom picture designer and framer.
Janice's second career was as an elementary- and middle-school teacher for almost 25 years. After retiring from full-time teaching, she decided to get back into the field of art, using her vast collection of fabric to depict scenery through a sewing/quilting process.
Now she teaches as an adjunct instructor at Wilmington University, continues to design and sew in her FabricScapes studio, and participates in art shows in Delaware and Maryland, as well as maintain her website.
