I have a degree in Geology, a penchant for rocks and minerals, and a creative side. I have studied photography, graphic design, cartography and art history and have had many maps and illustrations published. Five years ago, I began taking courses in the lapidary arts and started making cabochons. After producing many polished stones, I wanted to learn how to mount and display them in jewelry. I took courses in metalsmithing at the Delaware Art Museum and discovered a new creative outlet.
In addition to cutting and polishing stones for my personal jewelry designs, I also provide unique stones to many jewelry designers in the area. In the summer months, I travel throughout the country in search of cabbing material from rock shops and rockhounding sites. All of my designs start with the stone.
As an active member and instructor at Tuscarora Lapidary Society in Brookhaven, PA, I have won numerous stone cutting awards and TLS's 2011 Coren Award for outstanding contributions by a new member.
