My grandmother started my quilting career when I was seven years old. All the stitching was done by hand and once a quilt top was pieced, several neighbors and friends would gather to assemble and quilt on a room sized quilt frame. I watched that process with fascination. I’ve been sewing all my life - and spent many years creating “fancy work” hangings and cross stitch pieces. I returned to quilting about 3 years ago and love exploring new fabric collections and although I use a sewing machine to piece my quilt tops - I still “quilt” by hand using traditional heavy weight cotton thread. The designs are inspired by both traditional quilts and newer creations. I recently added handbags made of quality quilt fabrics and batting - each is unique and completely washable. Computers and ink-jet printers have made it possible to include personal pictures - commissioned memory quilts and pictures of pets with themed fabrics are some of my favorite projects.
