Artist Statement

I work primarily with crystal and glass and work as well with Himalayan-inspired jewelry. I love the variety of beautiful jewelry as well as window art which I create.
I was born during WWII - shortly after the bombing of my city Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Our family barely survived the hunger winter of 1943 and gratefully witnessed the American and Canadian troops which liberated us from the German Occupation on May 5, 1945. Slowly, we could savor foods which we, as children, had never seen or tasted before. We had our first melon when I was 5 years old. I saved the seeds, washed them, dried them and painted them green, brown, and yellow. I stuck a needle with thread through each seed and created by first necklace. There were no stores as of yet which sold beads. My love for making jewelry has been with me ever since!
