"I create useful items that are decorative and unique, using vintage printers wood type.
I've always been interested in the power and majesty of the printed word. Letters and numbers speak to me through their appearance - plain or fancy and bold or timid, to name a few."
Sy Blinn has been a printer for twenty years, an antique dealer for thirty years, and now is an artisan for 6 years. In the 1970's he collected printer's wood type and uses this collection to create tables, lamps, collages, bookends, and other useful and decorative objects for home and office. He is a member of The Art League of Long Island, Dix Hills, NY and Delaware By Hand, DE. Sy Blinn's commissions include a lobby wall collage for The Newark Trade Typographers, Orange, N.J. and items for the editor's personal collection of American Style Magazine. The Redding Gallery in Wilmington, DE. exhibited some collages in September, 2011.
